The new East Longmeadow Public Library opened on February 3, 2004.
Our mission is to provide resources and services that meet the cultural, informational, recreational and educational needs of the East Longmeadow community. The library houses over 70,000 volumes and provides access to the Internet as well as many online databases.
Meeting Rooms
The library has two public meeting rooms, the Community Room (capacity 75) and the Conference Room (capacity 12). Both rooms can be reserved by municipal/civic groups, and by other non-profit organizations providing services or information at no charge, subject to approval by the Library Director. Applications are available at the library.
Local History Room
The library also has a Local History Room where books and documents relating to the town's history are stored. To preserve these irreplaceable resources for future generations, many of the items are non-circulating and the room is open to the public by appointment. Members of the East Longmeadow Historical Society are available to assist patrons with their research in the Local History Room. Please call the library's Information Desk (413-525-5400 ext. 158) for more information .
Do You Have Your Library Card?
For your protection and security, your library card is the preferred way of accessing your account. Beginning November 1, 2005 you will be required to present your library card in order to check out or renew materials. By using your card, you show that you approve of each item being checked out to your account—each card is specific to each borrower and is not transferable, even to another family member. Please have your card handy when you’re ready to check out items. Lost or misplaced cards will be issued after showing proper identification and paying a $2.00 charge.
Also, beginning November 1, 2005 you will be required to have with you a valid C/W Mars library card to use the library Internet computers on the second floor.
